Russian color lapdog
The Russian colored lap-dog owes its appearance to the French lap-dogs and Shih Tzu. They were first seen in St. Petersburg after the Second World War, where they appeared as trophies from distant countries. Earlier in the USSR there were no decorative dogs, since they were considered overkill and remnants of the bourgeoisie, but in the mid-fifties, fashion for everything domestic came, and Moscow watchdogs, Moscow dogs and Russian colored lapdogs appeared.
“Bologna” in French comes from the word Bolognese – a dog from the Italian city of Bologna. Before the Revolution of 1917 in the territory of the Russian Empire, lapdogs were called all small dogs with shirts made of longer wool, but this is fundamentally wrong. The Russian colored lap-dog is “colored” not because it is spotted, but because it is more or less uniformly colored in one tone: white spots lacking pigment are practically absent.
How is a lapdog different from other miniature dogs? She is not only cute, but also intelligent – she never allows herself to bark in the presence of strangers, because she understands that the rules of decency do not allow such courtyard behavior. The Russian colored lapdog subtly feels mood swings and does not impose its society at the wrong time. Communication and time spent together with a smart and cute dog, who understands the owner perfectly, is a real pleasure.
Feeding
Each owner wants to see his dog healthy, active and cheerful.
And, as you know, the basis of health is a proper, complete and balanced diet. Even if you purchase the freshest and highest-quality products, buy vitamins and mineral supplements, without a biochemical laboratory you cannot determine the exact nutritional value of the food you cook at home. That’s why PEDIGREE® has developed a special app that helps you evaluate how your pet’s diet meets its needs.
Proper nutrition in the first year of a puppy’s life largely determines how healthy and joyful your puppy will be in the future. Caring for the health of your pet, PEDIGREE® recommends a combination of dry and wet rations, which allows you to fully utilize the benefits of both. You can read more about this in the article.

Vivacity
The dog was originally bred as a companion, accustomed to home conditions, and therefore the Russian colored lapdog of any gender gets along well with large and small dogs, without showing aggression and not arranging fights for the territory. If a Russian colored lapdog grows up with a kitten, then for the rest of his life he will maintain a warm relationship with him. Dogs of this breed are indifferent to rodents and birds.
Character
A real salon dog with a fun and playful character. An ideal companion animal for women.
Hair care
Care for the thick soft hair of a colored lap-dog consists in periodic washing (not more than once a month and immediately before the exhibition), daily combing with a comb with rare teeth. Claws need to be cut once every two to three weeks.
Conditions of detention
Exceptionally city apartment. The dog is not intended for life in the open air – it freezes, overheats, which is why its life span is shortened.
Walks
The Russian colored lapdog does well without lengthy walks, although staying in the fresh air and regular moderate physical exertion obviously will not hinder her.
